Sibeko number one in South Africa BNL for round 3

Vusi Sibeko

Guard Vusi Sibeko (G-1991) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for top-ranked Mpumalanga Rhinos, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 3.
The 33-year old player had a double-double of 13 points and 19 rebounds, while his team beat L.Pride (#2, 1-1) 68-53. It allowed Rhinos to consolidate first place in the South African BNL. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but M.Rhinos already had a very good start winning all 3 without losing a single one. Sibeko has many years of experience at Rhinos, through which he has constantly improved. Vusi Sibeko has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (5th best: 12.3ppg), rebounds (5th best: 13.0rpg) and averages impressive 1.3bpg and 56.0% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was young Swazi Thandokuhle Kunene (195-G/F-1990) of Soweto Panthers. Kunene had a very good evening with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Bad luck as Panthers was edged by L.Pride (1-1) 59-56. The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Kunene is one of the most experienced players at S.Panthers and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was another S.Panthers' star - Rodlam Elbur. Elbur scored 12 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Despite Elbur's great performance the Soweto Panthers lost 56-59 to L.Pride (#2, 1-1). But his team cannot count on just these two top stars as they also need help of the other teammates. Panthers can only dream about fighting for top spots in Group A. They have awful season losing so far all 2 games. Elbur has individually a great season in South Africa. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 2.5apg (9th best).

10. Kwazi Gumede (191-G/F-1997) of M.Rhinos - 16 points, 3 rebounds and 6 assists
